The 2011 World Series (Cardinals vs. Rangers) is widely considered one of the greatest World Series of all time — and the most interesting part, hands down, was Game 6. Here’s why it’s legendary 👇 ⚾ 1. The Cardinals were down to their last strike — twice. In Game 6, the Rangers were one strike away from winning the World Series two different times (in the 9th and again in the 10th inning). Both times, the Cardinals came back. David Freese hit a game-tying triple in the 9th, then hit a walk-off home run in the 11th. That single performance turned Freese into an instant St. Louis legend. 💥 2. Momentum completely flipped. After that comeback, the Cardinals had all the energy. In Game 7, they rode that wave to win the championship. It’s one of the biggest emotional swings in baseball history — from “series over” to “we’re champions” in less than 24 hours. 🧠3. Extra fun facts: That was Albert Pujols’ last season with the Cardinals before signing with the Angels. Nelson Cruz, who missed that fly ball in the 9th inning of Game 6, became the symbol of “so close, yet so far” for Texas. Tony La Russa retired immediately after, going out on top.
